Since 2002, when Studio Rivadossi Team was initiated, it has relationship with the University of Brescia, and in particular with the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering. Working in this department the Studio Rivadossi Team has provided consulting services and technical support system. In the years we have had the opportunity to apply and to improve our skills in various areas. In this context are mentioned:
- Servers and services management: within the University have been configured and managed various kind of servers, including: the server used for the publication of the website of the Department of Industrial Mechanical, servers for web services and web applications publication.
- Firewall configuration and security management: management of servers dedicated to the protection of subnets and of machines with public IP, in order to provide custom services into and outside the subnet of the University.
- Configuration of servers dedicated to the execution scientific calculus using software dedicated to engineering, in order to maximize performance and power calculation: this is very interesting, because nowdays the software engineering permits to perform, from a theoretical point of view, calculations extremely long, complex and refined, in order to simulate various phenomena. It is very important obtain a perfect hardware configuration in order to achieve the ability to execute these calculations: only good hardware resources management can ensure that the software function properly and harness inherent potential.
- Managing the license server: the Studio Rivadossi Team gained a good experience on issues concerning the management of software licenses through the sharing of licenses using a license server. With these techniques it is possible to optimize the use of the number of licenses purchased for a specific software, as there is not an association one to one between computers and purchased license: a great number of computers may have a software installed and, through the temporary acquisition of the license (made available by the license server), can use the software.
- Activation, configuration and management of a printing system that allows network printers sharing and permits to have authentication, costs' accreditation. The print jobs are defined by policies specified by the department. This is a versatile and highly configurable service, which can enable certain classes of users to use certain printers, and where the "cost" of each print can be determined by the characteristics of printers (for example a color printer is more expensive than a black and white printer).
